Work on 31 new campsites and three 8-person cabins will commence next week at the stunning, bushland Riverbend Caravan Park in Renmark, with a gorgeous new camp kitchen also on the cards.
In fact, according to co-manager Brett Hein, the 31 new powered grassy campsites are already marked out–boosting camping capacity by 30 percent, hopefully as early as February next year. (Artist impression, 8-person cabin below).
NEW CAMPSITES WILL INCLUDE SEMI-ESTABLISHED TREES
“They’ll be a little bit bigger than many of our existing sites, essentially 10 x 10 metres each. We’re going to re-level the new area, plant it up with new semi-established trees and install gravel roads [in keeping with the rest of the park].
“They will include a row of back to back sites, and sites that will back into the national park.”
LARGE AIR-CONDITIONED CAMP KITCHEN
A brand-new camp kitchen is also on the cards, which will have the capacity to host 50-60 campers (in non COVID times), provide air-conditioning plus incorporate a large sheltered barbecue area that faces the river out front. (River view at Riverbend Caravan Park, Renmark).
EIGHT-GUEST CABINS, NEW TO THE PARK
The renovation also includes the installation of beautiful brand-new three bedroom cabins, able to accommodate eight guests, featuring two bathrooms, a nice big living area and outdoor undercover dining area out the back.
RENOS ON ALL RIVERFRONT CABINS
All existing riverfront cabins will also undergo renovations: “We’ll be replacing all the old cabinetry, painting the wall and getting the splashbacks retiled,” says Brett.
Brett expects to complete the cabin and camp kitchen works by December 2021, with the new campsites ready by February 2022.
“It’s been in planning for many years … we’re looking forward to our regular guests seeing the changes take place at last!”
