Located on a major touring junction, Acacia Caravan Park welcomes its fair share of overlanders. And you’ll find camaraderie over coals at the park’s communal fire-pit, with wood supplied for free.

Or, if you’re on one of Ararat’s ‘Big Weekends’, why not enjoy a snag or two with fellow patrons at park-hosted barbecue?

During school holidays, the kids can join their park besties for movies after a day’s swimming, trampolining or scooting around.

 

SETTING UP CAMP

If you’re in a motorhome, caravan, tent or camper trailer, Acacia Caravan Park offers the perfect camp for you. Site options include mats, powered or unpowered lawn, and shade or full sun. Stay hitched up on a drive-through site for an early departure, before stocking up with big rig parking in town.

Campers can use an enclosed camp kitchen, freshly-upgraded toilet and shower amenities, and a new springless trampoline.

 

A PET-FRIENDLY PARK

Travelling with fur babies? Acacia Caravan Park and Holiday Units welcomes animals at camp and has pet-friendly cabins. Here, run your mate ragged at Ararat’s designated off-leash areas then clean up the automated dog-wash, the K9000 at the park.

CABIN ACCOMMODATION

For a fuss-free stay, find Ararat’s newest cabins at Acacia Caravan Park and Holiday Units. All have heating and air-conditioning and come in various styles including pet-friendly options and larger styles that sleep up to eight.

For a touch of luxury or a base to little a little longer, book into one and two-bedroom brick units.

HISTORIC ARARAT 

Acacia Caravan Park is just a kilometre from Ararat proper. In town, the Gum San Heritage Centre explores Ararat’s origins as Australia’s sole Chinese settlement. Pan for gold and learn about miner’s struggles 19th Century and celebrate Chinese architecture.

For an uneasy education, take the ghost tour at JWard Lunatic Asylum which opened its doors in 1861.

YOUR STAY IN ARARAT

In you enjoy a hit of golf, you’re spoiled for choice with three clubs close to town. Ararat is also happy hour-friendly home to central Victoria’s finest cellar doors.  

For an active day, uncover gold mining relics and take in views of the Grampians, Mount Lang and Ghiran in the Ararat Hills Regional Park. The park is dog-friendly, open to prospectors and offers walking and riding trails with an easy loop at Bridal Hill. Be sure to purchase a Miner’s Rights in town.

For granite outcrops and off-track hiking, head east for Langi Ghiran State Park 20 minutes from Ararat.

FURTHER AFIELD

Situated between the Grampians and the Pyrenees, Ararat provides excellent opportunities for adventurers. Mount Cole State Park provides excellent 4WDing with more at the Pyrenees State Park.

Forty minutes west, you’ll find waterfalls, rock-climbing and epic hiking at the glorious Grampians National Park.
