Gold history buffs can delve deeper into the Hepburn Regional Park now that repairs to a gold mining site are complete.
On a reinstated section of the Goldfields Track, visitors can now watch Sailors Creek billow from the Blowhole–an old gold miner’s tunnel when water levels rise.
WILD WEATHER FORCING THE CLOSURE
Rainfall and flood damage sparked its closure in 2016 when geotechnical engineers classed the site unsafe.
Parks Victoria spent $250,000 on restoring the heritage site complementing existing attractions including the Diggings Walk, the Spur Loop, Sailors Falls to the south.
