These wild new experiences at the state-of-the-art Discovery Lab form part of a $4.2 million investment into Dubbo’s most-visited tourist attraction.
A new cafe, fossil store and mega fauna exhibition round out the project, designed to encourage travellers to extend their stay.
DUBBO REGIONAL COUNCIL BOOST
Dubbo Regional Council co-funded the project with the State Government, which contributed $3.8 million under the Stronger Communities Fund.
The State Government set aside $10 million for Dubbo Regional Council following its recent amalgamation, with the centre the first project delivered under the scheme.
WELLINGTON CAVES, A LOCAL GEM
Every year, 30,000 visitors stop into Wellington Caves.
The towering Cathedral Cave is its headlining attraction. A 40-minute-tour takes in the majestic Altar—a 15m tall stalagmite—Thunder Cave and The Well.
Travellers with limited mobility can admire fossils in the Phosphate Mine that operated during WWI until 1918.
Adjacent is the Osawano Japanese Gardens, comprising 1500 beautifully manicured plants set amongst tranquil water features.
CARAVAN FRIENDLY
Council welcomes caravanners and self-drive tourists at the Wellington Caves & Holiday Complex next door.
Here, travellers can opt for garden view cabins. Or settle in after a long drive on a large, shaded drive-through site and cool off in the shade sail sheltered pool.
