Canberra Park, managed by Free Spirit Resorts, is set to boost camping capacity in our nation’s capital.
Works on 73 powered caravan sites, a camp kitchen, laundry and CCTV security are underway, affording safe, comfortable camping 5 minutes from the CBD and 15 minutes from the National Museum of Australia.
Canberra Park General Manager David Grigg expects the caravan park facilities to open mid-June 2020.
“Our research identified that many Aussies travelling to our Nation’s Capital have sought out this type of development for some time now.
“This is an exciting project for FDC and Free Spirit Resorts team.”
CARAVANNING COMFORTS AT CANBERRA PARK
Twenty five drive-through sites will accommodate big rigs, with a further 48 back in sites. All are powered and have generous allocated boundaries to maximise privacy and space.
The camp kitchen includes a seating area, hotplates and bathroom facilities. From here, bi-fold doors lead to seating around a grassed circular area, and a featured fire-pit for winter stays.
“We’ve worked with the developers, FDC Building, to ensure there’s enough safe, non-intrusive directional lighting suitable for camping,” says David.
“We’ll also offer high end 4G WiFi on 5G infrastructure free of charge, throughout the entire park.”
SUSTAINABLE PLANNING
Native trees unique to Canberra are taking root in strategic positions, to minimise blind spots and enhance privacy.
Low maintenance grass keeps campsites greener for longer, with rain-water tanks and grey water flushable toilets improving overall water efficiency.
Proposed solar panel upgrades on the adjacent accommodation will help to power the campsites and shared amenities, with more accommodation and recreational areas in the pipe-works, as the site grows and develops.
ADDING VALUE
“We’ll be looking to provide a point of difference for our guests, made possible by high end and well thought-out infrastructure combined with personalised service,” David explains.
Guests will be able to order custom, locally-sourced barbecue or cheese and wine packs. Arrange to have their van serviced, treated for pests or cleaned. Or enjoy chef-prepared takeaway dinners preordered the day before.
The Free Spirit Team are also negotiating group discounts on attractions and RV-friendly services.
