Giddy-up! Family-friendly guided trail rides

Whether you’re horse shy or an experienced rider, trail rides provide a unique way to experience the local country side with the whole family. Check out these top experiences below!

If you’re keen to experience classic Murray country on horseback why not saddle up at the Billabong Ranch, just 20 minutes out from Echuca.

Here, opt for one-, two-half day or half-day horse trail rides through red gum forest at very affordable pricing. Patient guides pair horses to riders according to size and experience–with some rides suitable for absolute beginners.

If you want to make a day of it, there’s also a fun park and cafeteria on site offering free and individually-priced activities including mini-golf, archery paddle-boats and a climbing course.

It’s open Saturdays but call ahead; advanced bookings required for all trail rides.

Passing through Kalbarri? You’d struggle to find a prettier way to offer support, than saddling up on the back of horse at Big River Ranch.

Currently, Big River Ranch is offering a one and a half hour ‘nose to tail’ scenic trail ride through sand and trees with views to offer canter rides as works on the national park progress.

The nose to tail ride is a stunner: “There is a swimming hole at the end along the river or gum trees,” says the Big River Ranch proprietor.

You needn’t rush to get on-site either, with beautiful, spacious grassy sites with power and unpowered options available for your tent or RV.
