SHARK HAZARDS AT CARBROOK GOLF COURSE

In the aftermath of floods at Carbrook in the early-90s, new and unlikely residents intensified the hazards on holes 15, 16 and 17 at the Carbrook Golf Course, half an hour from Brisbane. And today, more than 12 bull sharks lurk within its wetland network. With fishlife co-existing in the waterways, the apex predators are well fed but ball hunting is strictly prohibited, just the same.

From humble beginnings as a flagged paddock and later a sand mine, Carbrook Golf Course is now an environmental leader and a championship club that’s in the hands of its members.

AUSTRALIA’S OLDEST RATHO FARM, BOTHWELL

Embrace your inner Highlander at Australia’s oldest golf course, Ratho Farm, Bothwell, Tasmania. Settled by Scottish immigrants in the 1822, the Farm established a golf course on site around the late 1860s. In recent times, six holes were recovered with existing holes adjusted or re-rated to suit equipment advances and modern play.

Animals roam the farm, and trout fishing on-site is said to be great.
