The Heart of the Murray’s food bowl will be on show in March 2023 when the Swan Hill Region Food and Wine Festival opens again for another stellar year, spanning three days of festivities, tasking and live entertainment. It kicks off Friday, March 10, with an evening cruise before ramping up on the Saturday Swan Hill’s much loved Pioneer Village.
The Swan Hill Food and Wine Festival is one of the largest and most popular food events in regional Victoria. Adopting a similar format to previous years, the 2023 Swan Hill Food and Wine Festival will comprise three days of festivities, tastings and live entertainment for the whole family.
A ‘cruisy’ start
The festival will officially open on Friday March 10th, with an evening cruise on the much-loved PS Pyap. As the old paddle boat leisurely makes it along the mighty Murray River, enjoy a selection of canapes, Andrew Peace wine, live music, majestic Mallee sunset views. The cruise departs from the Pioneer Settlement Wharf at 6.45pm, tickets will available in early 2023.
The main festival kicks off on Saturday March 11th at Swan Hill’s iconic Pioneer Settlement. Taste your way around the Swan Hill Region via the many fine food and wine stalls making an appearance on the grounds. Expect to find a selection of local producers and restaurants including Fossey’s Gin, Bellarine Estate, Murray Mallee Piza, Frosty Monkeys, Salami Shack and more.
Grape Stomp
Guests can expect to enjoy live entertainment from 1:30pm when the annual Grape Stomp will take place on the main stage, followed by a fantastic line-up of entertainers. Meanwhile, Up & Away Balloons, face painting and a jumping castle will all combine to provide hours of laughter for the little ones.
The festivities wrap up on Sunday March 12th with the Produce and Design Market being held at the Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery. Here, visitors can expect to get fresh as they sample the finest produce from the region. Browse the many stalls stocking wine, gourmet treats, homemade crafts, cakes, preserves and plants. Entry is by gold coin donation.
