Maryborough gardens on display this August

Saturday August 26 and 27, green thumbs of Maryborough, Qld, will throw open their gates treating guests to a glorious, colourful weekend.

Ten town gardens curated by the Maryborough Horticultural Society will be on display August 26, with another 6 private country gardens open to the public on Sunday, August 27.

Town Garden Highlight

Highlights include a meticulously manicured 2-acre garden surrounding the gracious State Heritage-Listed Baddow House. Mature Jacaranda and Poinciana frame the exquisite period brick paving, two gracious arbours and a pond, on the 26th.

Not only will guests enjoy the opportunity to browse the impressive grounds, parts of the majestic property built during the late 19th Century open to the public as well.

County Garden Highlight

On the 27th, guests can immerse themselves in this absolute twitchers’ paradise at Bidwell, among a carefully-crafted fruiting rainforest-themed garden. Thirty years in the making, it’s ever evolving; And with plants available to buy, you can take a piece of it home.

Maryborough Magic

While you’re in town, continue the charm with a stop at the Story Bank, celebrating Maryborough’s own connection to the mystical Mary Poppins, as author P.J. Travers’ childhood home. There’s also the stunning Maryborough Military and Colonial Museum.
