Camping capacity at the Kaniva Poolside Caravan Park will fully resume soon, as major renovations of the boutique camp draw to an end.
Accessible camp kitchen
Key changes for the campsite-only park will include a new camp kitchen, an amenities block and a powerhead introducing two new drive-through campsites on the park’s western end.
“The Camp Kitchen will comprise an accessible barbecue, four hot plates, sink, power access and an accessible table,” says Lucy Marra, for the West Wimmera Shire Council.
Family-friendly amenities
The new family-friendly amenities are locally built and also include an accessible toilet and shower, baby change facilities and male and female showers and toilets.
Other park improvements include improved signage and more trees. Although a finish date isn’t confirmed, the Shire says the project is on track:
“We are hoping to have the facilities completed either very late December or early to mid Jan.”
Van parking, fauna park, art and more
The Kaniva Poolside Caravan Park is a pretty caravan park, located near the Western Highway and next to Kaniva Memorial Swimming Pool, which operates seasonally (check here for details).
The caravan upgrades complement the West Wimmera Shire’s recent tourism initiatives including Sheep Art, upgrades to the Kaniva Wetlands and Fauna Park, Silo Art installations.
The local council supports caravan tourism, offering caravan parking near the hotel, at the Wetlands and Fauna Park, at the Silo Art and near the Shire Hall alongside Commercial Street.
