Seeking somewhere comfortable and easy to access? Check out Merool Holiday Park

Looking for a pleasant, comfortable stay that’s easy to access? Merool Holiday Park appeals on many fronts. John Westbury explains.

We had been on a break in our van in central Victoria and were due to head home when my wife suggested we take a few more days away as the weather was great. But where to go? We had not been across the border into New South Wales for a while so decided to head towards the Murray River area of Moama.

Friends had told me about the Merool Holiday Park, a short drive across the border, and, as they had a vacancy we headed there and I have to say I am glad we did, as this park provided not only excellent accommodation, but has a lot to offer for everyone. There is a stunning outlook to the Murray River, you are sure to find plenty of activities for all ages to enjoy throughout this park.

CLOSE TO SHOPS

Managed by Karyn and Jim Hoare the park is situated on approximately 70-acres and has self-contained accommodation and is only a short drive from the Port of Echuca and main shopping centre.  There is also a large shopping centre a few minutes from the park and has everything you would want.

From powered sites to the pioneer themed holiday cabin village, there is also a beautiful outdoor swimming pool, games room, jumping pillow, two BBQ areas, camp kitchen and easy access around the park. There are two amenities blocks which we found in excellent condition, a laundry, playground for the kids, and a dump point.

PRONE TO FORGETTING YOUR PIN? ‘BOOM’, AUTO GATES!

While there is a boom gate entry-exit you do not have to try and remember your code as it works on your vehicle using number plate recognition. This is good security because unless your vehicle has been registered at the office you cannot enter the park.

A spacious reception area has various items for sale plus a host of brochures on places you may like to check out. Wi-Fi is available for you to keep in touch with family and friends and to send them photos of the great time you are having.

YOUR OASIS AWAY FROM HOME

All 30 power sites are spacious and most have concrete slabs with a grass section and small palm trees making this your basic oasis away from home. Cabins throughout the park are great and consist of two Inland Studio units, four double Studio units with disability access, eight “Settlers Huts”, five River Front Studio units, 11 Riverfront Pioneer Cottages, all with everything you will need to make a great holiday and wonderful memories.

There are various types of wild life wandering the park from baby duckling just born when we were there, water hens, kookaburras and  kangaroos who visit early morning and evening plus much more. Because of the abundance of wildlife the park is not pet friendly.

GROUPS WELCOME

The Merool Holiday Park also caters for groups and while we were there we enjoyed the company of teams from Heyfield and Paynesville bowls clubs who were competing in the Women’s Country Bowls Carnival 2021.

The park also has a spacious conference room area which can accommodate groups.

If you do not feel like preparing a meal, the local RSL is only up the road and provides a courtesy bus with a special covered pick up point at the park. The park will be undergoing various extensions and renovations over the next 18-months, none of which will affect your stay.
