The City of Greater Geelong becomes first Council to ‘Welcome Recreational Vehicles’

The Victorian Caravan Parks Association (VicParks) is excited to announce City Roads-RV-Sign-VICof Greater Geelong as its Launch Partner for its new Community Welcomes Recreational Vehicles program.

This new nationally supported program seeks to highlight towns, destinations and regions that actively encourage recreational vehicle (RV) travellers to visit them.

With over half a million RV’s registered in Australia, this market represents a huge opportunity for local councils to welcome more RV travellers into their regions and add to their local economies. The RV market is booming in Australia and this program will allow local councils to capitalise on this growth while offering a better travel experience for consumers.

The VicParks Community Welcomes Recreational Vehicles program is designed to provide a consistent welcoming message to RV travellers across the country. 9727 Vic Park Logo_OPTS_v2It includes a template sign for councils to display on the entrance to town, which will indicate to RV travellers that the area provides appropriate RV facilities.

The City of Greater Geelong has become the first council to join the free program, Greater Geelong is very well placed to embrace this wonderful new initiative. The region attracts over 5 Million visitors annually and it is well supported with numerous holiday parks of outstanding quality.

With over 2300 camp sites available in the City of Greater Geelong, it is the perfect place to launch this program and they are delighted to have the council as their Launch Partner.

VicParks are continuing to discuss the program with a number of local Greater Geelongcouncils and look forward to welcoming many more to the program in the coming months.
