OUR CARAVANNING STORY: Dan and I travelled around Australia with the kids (now adults) navigating from the back seat. Mary and George would check what services were available at different sites in our Camps 4 Book, Dan would ask if the regions industry seemed likely to have suitable work – we did all sorts of different jobs from milking cows in a dairy in Queensland, pen riding in a feedlot in NSW, carting hay and feeding cattle in Victoria, covering grapevines in Tasmania to serving in hardware and managing a caravan park in WA. There are too many amazing travelling experiences to note all, however some highlights were snorkelling in Ningaloo Reef, Christmas Day complete with a homemade gingerbread house on a houseboat on the Ord River, in the Kimberley’s and fishing on Fraser Island (Kgari). We left Qld with the car and the family caravan. We returned to Qld with a load of experiences and memories and understanding and tolerances and acceptance just in time for high school education when we invested in Resort Management rights at Peregian Beach.
10 years later, the travel bug returned. Dan and I worked around the rural regions of Meandarra, Longreach, and Yaraka Q, where our families still are. We found some beautiful camp spots and waterholes along the way.
Now we own Trinity Islands Holiday Park on the banks of the Burrum River, Qld. We want to share with others what we have come to value throughout our life experiences….spending time with family and friends in nature, being outdoors, chatting, playing cards and cooking on a campfire, fishing, kayaking, and relaxing within the ecosystem of our native wildlife. Fish, Lizards and Birds of many species and kangaroos live here too!
We hope guests will Relax a while and experience the natural beauty of the Fraser Coast. During the winter months, whale watching from Hervey Bay is majestical. Hiking, fishing, swimming and exploring Kgari allows a deep connection with nature and it’s restorative powers. Lady Elliot Island is also a favourite place of ours…a nature based eco experience of snorkelling with manta rays, reef sharks, loggerhead turtles and an abundance of fish species, a day trip is easily accessible from Hervey Bay. There is also Lady Musgrave cruise day trips from Bundaberg. Bundy has the best rum and ginger beer! A drive through the food bowl around Childers is inspirational. Beach driving and fishing via Woodgate is spectacular (and not as busy as Noosa North Shore). You can surf the longest waves at Double Island point or visit Noosa just a couple of hours from here. Howard bakery has the best bread and really good treats! Brisbane is only 3 hours away and Burrum Heads is beautiful with a genuine local community.
