What’s Up Downunder uncovers the craft behind Australia’s mighty cricketing heritage with sixth-generation ‘pod shaver’ Ian Tinetti at Cricket Willow. A pod shaver, for those who don’t know, hand whittles cricket bats.
The wood for these hand-crafted bats grow onsite at the sprawling estate. Angie Hilton had a chance to inspect the property and it was just magic wandering down the lane of towering willow trees overlooking a beautifully-maintained cricket field.
Within the workshop, drawknife in hand, the kids had a go at shaping the bat rounding out the
day.
