Next time you head off to Gippsland, Foster is a great place to use as a base, and the Prom Central Caravan Park is an excellent place to stay. This park is not new, but it has new owners (Suzanne and Travis), who took over in March 2018. They are working hard to bring their park into the 21st Century.
It is fair to say that the amenities are old, but it is equally fair to say they are spotless and the showers have plenty of good hot water. The camp kitchen is huge, and has all the facilities that you need. It is open so would see plenty of use in summer, but perhaps a little less in winter.
There are about 12 cabins, all with en-suite, and really well presented. I can imagine that they will be very popular in peak season and weekends, so it’s a good idea to book in advance. The powered sites are big, and very easy to get on to. They are all grassed with plenty of room for your awning to be out, and your car parked on site.
Prom Central doesn’t have playgrounds, water parks etc, but it does have lovely peace and quiet. If you don’t need all those things to keep kids entertained then this park is well worth staying at. It is dog friendly and a member of Family Parks.
Foster is a lovely town, with a very active shopping center. I should know, I left quite a bit in the excellent shoe shop! The Exchange Hotel is well worth a visit, the bistro serves a very good meal with a clever twist. You can order half serves! How often have you looked at the size of the kids meals and wished you could have one. Well you can at the Exchange Hotel.
Walking through Foster is a treat, with very friendly locals who are more than happy to smile and say hi. That makes such a difference when you are ‘new’ to town.
Day trips to Wilson’s Prom, Leongatha, Fish Creek, Inverloch and all the other towns and villages around are easy. Foster is a perfect place to stay. If you go to Toora try lunch at Latte Dah, a very good café.
