Buronga Riverside Caravan Park

On the northern bank of the Murray River near Mildura, you’ll find the Buronga Riverside Tourist Park, NSW. From here, stroll to Mildura’s CBD or admire paddle steamers cruising past at camp, while overlooking Mildura Wharf.

At this true caravanners’ park, take your pick at more than 150 spacious, grassy, and shady powered sites though book ahead for riverfront.

YOUR STAY AT BURONGA TOURIST PARK

Live-in managers and leaseholders Gay and Clinton Trood transformed the park into a lush, green, and year-round destination.

You’ll see their small touches throughout, like the hand-basin with soap and towel at the dump point, to the well-maintained lawns and garden beds, they’ve made the most of the location and created a relaxing, comfortable camping experience.

Two well-equipped, all-weather camp kitchens feature large screen TVs, each one adjacent to a swimming pool for the warmer months.

CAMPFIRES ALLOWED

Travelling the shoulder-season? Warm up on cool, still evening by a fire bucket (available on request) with firewood available at a small charge. Clinton will deliver to your site during the afternoon. Ready for toasting marshmallows or partaking in a red wine or two.

For the kids there’s a gorgeous animal farm, BMX track, two playgrounds, a jumping pillow and a pond.

CELEBRATIONS

If you are here for New Year celebrations, Gay and Clinton host dinner – for about 500 people – with views of the fireworks on the river. At Easter time, kids can ferret the grounds for chocolate egg then spend their sugar rush on a state-of-origin tug-of-war.
There’s room for well behaved pets to stretch their legs; with a dedicated washing machine for pet bedding as well as a bath for your furry friend(s).

CABIN ACCOMMODATION

Six cabins and seven riverfront villas provide an ideal break from the tent. And the villas have either two or three bedrooms, reverse cycle air-conditioning and a ceiling fan in the main bedroom. Best of all, they all have a balcony complete with an outdoor setting for watching the river drift by and listen to the birdlife.

TENT CAMPING

The unpowered sites at park’s western end lead to a track takes you down to the Mildura weir and Lock 11. The lock and weir was constructed 1920s help establish water for irrigation and to enhance the navigability of the river through the Mildura and Red Cliffs districts. This forms part of the series of weirs and locks constructed along the Murray River from Yarrawonga to Blanchetown in South Australia.

Of course, there are plenty of attractions close by. Here are a couple within a thirty-minute walk of the park.

FINAL WORD

On our first visit to Buronga Riverside Caravan Park we booked in for three nights and ended up staying fourteen – talking to others this seems like a common occurrence. Whether you are swapping stories around the fire bucket with new friends or just sitting by the river watching the world go by, the often-heard catchphrase is well deserved – “Linger longer at Buronga”!
