Holiday Lifestyle Bay Portland is about 5km from Portland, on the Southern Ocean coast in the area defined by The Great Ocean Road, and close to the South Australia border.

There is one thing for sure, there is plenty of ocean around here and some amazing scenery too.

BIG PARK, BIG VIEWS

The park is big, set on 10 acres, with some accommodation looking straight to the Southern Ocean. There are powered sites, some with en-suite and un-powered too. With so much space, and a great range in accommodation sleeping between 2 and 50 people, it’s a perfect destination for couples, social groups, schools, and family gatherings. There is an exceptionally well presented amenities block.

With a park on the ocean you would expect to have a lot of ocean based facilities, and you won’t be disappointed at Henty Bay. There is a boat ramp and wash down area. You can fish from the beach and if your day has been exceptional there is ample free fish freezing facilities too. You can also store your boat and caravan at the park, so you don’t have to tow when you come back for your next holiday.

YOUR STAY AT HENTY BAY BEACHFRONT HOLIDAY PARK

The park also boasts a huge coffee lounge, something I really like on a park. Love a good coffee and it’s wonderful when you don’t have to go far to get one. When it comes to entertaining the family, there are no problems here. There is an adventure playground, and a giant jumping pillow for the energetic kids.

There is a ‘milk-bar’ style kiosk which has take away food, basic essentials, ice and bait. Plus, you can sign in on the complimentary WiFi or use the internet kiosk in the office (during office hours).

Having a great holiday is all about relaxing, and the camp kitchen and outdoor beachfront barbecue make it easy to do something simple and then just kick back and enjoy the view and the sound of the water.

PETS OR NO PET?

Some people like to travel with their dogs, and others don’t want to be near dogs. Well, this can be a problem when you are running a caravan park, because you want to encourage everyone to stay with you. So at Henty Bay there are two sections, one for pets and one without. That’s clever.

TOURING PORTLAND AND HENTY BAY

If you want to leave the park, there is plenty to see and do in the area. One place to go to is The Ploughed Field. It’s the local vantage point to watch important events happening in Portland and on the ocean. It’s claim to fame is that it is said to be the first place in Portland, and Victoria, where a field was ploughed to sow European crops.

The Cape Nelson Lighthouse is a beauty, standing tall with its white group light, flashing four times every twenty seconds which can be seen some 21 nautical miles out to sea. It was manned from 1884 until some time in the 1990’s, but it still operates to protect that part of the coast.

If you like dogs, particularly Kelpies, then you really need to catch the Casterton Kelpie Festival which is an annual event incorporating the largest Kelpie dog auction in Australia. But it’s more than that, it is a festival with all sorts of attractions including a Stockmans Challenge, an Art Show and a street parade.
