“There is a choice of caravan parks in Bowen, so we asked a friend who lived in town which one she liked best. Queens Beach Tourist Village was her answer, so we took her recommendation and didn’t regret it at all,” writes Alison Huth, editor-at-large, What’s Up Downunder magazine. See Alison’s review below, on tour in Far North Queensland, 2021.
The park isn’t right on the beach, but so close it doesn’t matter. We were there in March 2021 before the winter season started, which meant that the park was fairly quiet, but that would change in a few weeks.
There are two sizes of powered sites, and we chose to take one of the bigger ones. What an excellent choice that was. The small sites are not cramped and impossible to park in, but we usually take the easy way out, and the bigger site sure was that.
It was easy to get on to, plenty of room for our van (25ft back to towball), awning and car. In fact you could have fitted another car in. The bigger sites are fairly new looking, or the concrete slab is anyway.
All the powered sites are well divided with hedges so you cannot meander over to someone else’s space. In the smaller site area there are defined walkways to go to the amenities block, so no walking through someone’s annex.
The facilities include three amenities blocks and laundries, two swimming pools and an excellent camp kitchen.
If you’re staying in a cabin, there are five styles to choose from. The right one for you will depend on the number of people and your budget. They are all ensuited and have kitchen facilities.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on this park, all the staff were really friendly, and we happily waved at smiling strangers who were working away clearing the gardens, fixing a tap, whatever needed doing. Nothing seemed to be a problem, and that attitude just makes your stay so much better.
